Do men really not notice when there are no women in a video game?
Typically we don’t give a shit because we’re playing the game for the quality of the game, not the titty quota.
The only time I really notice is if I’m playing a game for that purpose. If I downloaded an H game I’m going to be really upset if it’s men only. Aside from that, I really don’t care.
It might not be that people don’t notice a lack of female characters in a game, but more that most gamers, men and women alike, just don’t care. It’s not as big of a deal as long as the game is enjoyable and the focus isn’t on gender.
One of my favorite games growing up had no significant female characters, and no playable ones. But I’m too busy figuring out the game and having fun to nitpick about those things. The fact that there are other great games that do include female characters makes up for it too.
Make a game like the old style Tomb raider, and give her the great personality Lara had. Don’t make a game like Beyond Two Souls.
Because fuck it, that shit was not good.
Oh, and Remember Me. I wanted to love that game, but the combat, platforming, and story sucked. Everything else was awesome.

Tumblrina tries to play a video game this year, she will try really hard this time, because that’s the game of a company that loves women and supports minorities : ubisoft
She bought watch dogs 2 because buzzfeed told her it will make all the white males angry and that the villains are an evil corporation so there must be a deep critic of capitalism somewhere. The game spent some time on the desk, next to her laptop, she can’t play yet, she have to tell the internet that she bought a game with a black protagonist, it’s important.
She is confused on how to play it, she didn’t knew that she needed a game console, fortunately the veterinary of her fourteen cats is willing to let her borrow a console for some time. After being confused by the complex setting of this unfriendly device, she finally finds with the help of ben kuchera, turns it on and insert the game disk.
She sips her latte in front of the title screen : a artistic view of the black protagonist on a roof contemplating the city, his back turned against the camera. The controller resting on the yin yang coffee table, she waits for the game to begin.
After a good twenty minutes of waiting at the title screen, the black protagonist turns around and face the screen, calmly saying : “I’m sorry, but this isn’t going to be fun, I’m here to educate you on social issues”. Tumblrina creams her panties in a torrent of bodily fluids, the game really was every she hoped it would be.
For six hours, the black protagonist talks about racism, police brutality, gender issues, representation of muslim women in western media, there it not plot, there is no gameplay, there is no story, there is no characters, after all those years, video games are worthy of being called an art form.
The black protagonist concludes by inviting everyone to buy all the DLCs and all the sequel to keep promoting minorities by giving money to ubisoft. Tumblrina was never so educated, she is more progressive than ever, this is the greatest gaming experience she ever lived trough, video games did it, video games can finally be took seriously.
